The Dominican Republic has statistically proven that it is the most popular of destinations in the Caribbean. The tourist arrival rate was over 6.1 million visitors a year in 2016 and increased by another 219,000+ in 2017, totaling the inter annual rate to 3.8% over the last year.
56.3% of tourists are from North America, 25.9% from Europe, 12.8% from South America and 4.6% from Central America, the remaining .4% is from Asia and other parts of the world.
